Group ManagersAlex Caravello MEng CEng MIStructEDirector & Structural Engineering ManagerAlex is a graduate of Leeds University, having obtained a Masters Degree with Honours in the field of Architectural Engineering. He qualified as a Chartered Structural Engineer in 2003, passing the IStructE membership examination at first attempt. After initially working within building services Alex joined a leading international design consultancy in London as a structural engineer, working on a wide variety of residential and commercial projects in the UK and Europe, whilst developing his design skills, management techniques, planning and programming capabilities. After leaving consultancy in London Alex further developed his extensive knowledge of building structures within private practice, gaining significant experience in the design of multi-storey reinforced concrete and steel framed structures, as well as timber and load bearing masonry, basements and specialist foundation schemes. He also has experience in site ground investigations & soils testing, topographical surveys & building surveys. After forming AMS CAD Solutions he was joined in 1997 by the Group Managers to direct AMS Group Consultants and has been significant in developing the ability to successfully complete commissions for projects of up to £5.0M. Alex has developed a great deal of site-based experience, gathered from conducting hundreds of structural condition surveys and subsidence reports for private and commercial clients, on domestic, commercial and industrial buildings. Alex is also an experienced practising Party Wall Surveyor. Ian Brazier BEng (Hons) CEng MICEAssociate & Civil Engineering ManagerDuring the early part of his career, Ian Brazier’s experience was in detailed design of roads and drainage. A substantial amount of experience was based around the development of the city of Milton Keynes and the M6 Motorway widening schemes. As part of his professional training, Ian spent two years on site supervising the construction of roads, bridges and drainage. He also gained experience in quantity surveying and dealing with contract claims. After Ian qualified as a Chartered Engineer in 1994, he developed his expertise in highway, drainage and flood planning matters. This experience has generally revolved around residential, school, office, retail superstore and other commercial developments. In the last few years, clients have employed Ian to carry out road and drainage feasibility studies in order to gain planning permission, or to release land for development. In the area of highway planning, over the last few years Ian has gained a reputation for his ability to resolve highway planning matters and has also been employed as an expert witness at public enquiries. Clients also draw on Ian’s detailed design experience and project management skills, giving continuity from planning through to procurement.
Thomas Fisher HNCRC Detailing ManagerThomas is an HNC qualified CAD designer and gained his extensive experience with Harris and Sutherland’s CAD/RC detailing group. He specialises in reinforced concrete detailing of Civil and Structural projects, such as multi-storey office developments, factories, prisons and bridges, in both in-situ and precast concrete. His software expertise ranges from AutoCAD release 9 to 2000, MicroStation 95 to v8, SuperCAD-RC, Multi-RC, CADS-RC and J-Bar. Project Experience
